NEW: Special Edition of “Under the Pala Pala”

In February at the International Marine Protected Areas Congress the Center for American Progress and the National Ocean Protection Coalition hosted a storytelling event on Indigenous-led conservation approaches for ocean protection in the U.S.

This special edition episode of “Under the Pala Pala” we bring you highlights from the event where Chairwoman Violet Sage Walker of the Northern Chumash Tribal Council; Dr. Kelsey Leonard of the Shinnecock Nation; Sol Kaho’ohalahala and Hoku Ka’aekuahiwi from Hawaii; and Destiny Bristol Kushin and Dr. Lauren Devine from the Aleut Community of Saint Paul Island, joined Center for American Progress’ Angelo Villagomez to discuss how community-led conservation and indigenous-led conservation plays out in their advocacy for National Marine Sanctuaries.
